JASE'S 3RD BIRTHDAY PARTY!
How is it possible that I have a three year old!?! I feel like all moms say that. When I became a mom, suddenly time was more precious ever before. They just grow up so damn fast. One minute I'm projectile vomiting all over hospital walls (labour ain't pretty ya'll) and then in the blink of an eye, my baby boy is three. Anyway, I could go on and on with the sappy mom stuff. Let's move on to the fun part - the PARTY!
This year I gave Jase the choice of picking which theme he wanted for his party - a Paw Patrol party, or a hockey party (his first birthday party was barnyard themed, and his second birthday party was construction site themed). He chose a hockey party!
I depended on Party City Canada for most of the decorations for the party. I love Party City so much - it's just an easy one stop shop for throwing any sort of themed party. They have cutlery, plates, cups, dishes, bowls - anything you can imagine in a huge assortment of colours, plus obviously lots of themed supplies as well.
I have some classic appetizers that I find myself serving at a lot of things we host (meat & cheese tray, taco dip, a cheeseball, etc) mostly because they're easy and seem to consistently go over well... I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it right?? No one in our circle of friends and family have particular dietary needs or preferences, so I can be pretty free to make any sort of party food! We had some sausage bites cut up and served with a variety of mayos/mustards along with a greek pasta salad, amoung lots of appetizer type foods, like I mentioned before. In the past we've also done things like homemade pulled pork on a bun and meatballs.
I was so impressed with the cake this year. We dealt with a local woman named Jenny (look her up on IG - jennys_cakeaddiction, her cakes are GORGEOUS). She customized a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey cake for Jase, including his last name and how old he was turning for the jersey number. Seriously, HOW AMAZING IS THIS CAKE! The picture doesn't even do it justice. It was so detail oriented, right down to the "stitching" on the jersey, like around the collar. Best of all, Jase LOVED IT!!! He was so excited about it and couldn't wait to blow out the candles.
All in all, the most important part of the whole day was that Jase had a blast. This year was a lot of fun with him because he's truly starting to know what's going on and get super excited about it. Thank you so much to our friends and family who are just oh so good to our little man! Honestly, that's why it makes our hearts so happy throwing birthday parties for our kids. We love seeing them feel special, and the excitement all over their faces. That's what it's all about!
